Osteopathy

Osteopaths are allied health professionals who provide hands on treatment for many musculoskeletal aches and pains including neck, shoulder and back pain, headaches, sporting injuries and repetitive strain injuries. We treat the whole body with techniques such as deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy, joint manipulation, articulation and stretching, and focus on restoring movement and reducing pain and stiffness. We also recognise that chronic stress, inactivity and some lifestyle factors can influence your pain and understand the mind body connection associated with pain. People of all ages consult osteopaths.

Osteopaths have undertaken at least 5 years of University studies, are registered with AHPRA , and are required to undertake continuing professional development yearly to further their skills and knowledge. Osteopathic training involves comprehensive study of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics (how the body moves) to better understand your overall health and wellbeing. Our focus is to restore symmetry to the body, to educate your on the factors that are causing and contributing to your pain and assist you in establishing self management strategies that are easy to follow and achievable.

Initial consultations are 45 minutes in duration and include questioning regarding your pain and the likely causes, an assessment, treatment and management plan. We provide ‘hands on treatment’ (including deep tissue massage), stretches and postural advice (sleeping, sitting, workstation or technology postures) as well as stretches and strengthening exercises to address the underlying causes. Subsequent consultation are 30 minutes in duration. We commonly work alongside other health professionals such as GP’s podiatrists, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists and can participate in Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC)/ Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan in conjunction with your GP through medicare with the appropriate referral.
